Junior Development
Athletes can expect to learn the basics of strength and conditioning, nutrition, and sports psychology, and will experience different types of rowing (sculling/sweeping) in a variety of boat classes, supervised by an NCCP trained coach. Development athletes will also test their skills at select local regattas. Athletes may move from the development program to the competitive program at any time; however, there are several times throughout the year where this transition is easier and more natural.
Typical Training Schedule:
Designed for athletes of all ability and skill levels, this program will teach the fundamentals of rowing and physical fitness in a safe, fun environment.

Junior Performance
The program will prepare athletes for the Royal Canadian Henley, Junior National Team trials and for College/University training and recruitment. Athletes can expect 6 – 10 training sessions per week (depending on the season) and are fully supervised by an NCCP certified coach. Athletes can expect to spend most of their training time in small boats (1x, 2x, 2-), and will undergo selection for all premier events (listed below).
The ARC will hold a training camp for competitive athletes in early March each year, taking place outside of the province (often in Florida or South Carolina) and lasting approximately 10 days. The average cost for this camp is approximately $1,700.00.
Typical Training Schedule:
This program is aimed at junior rowers who have rowed in the development squad and are aiming for peak performance at select national and international regattas.
