Overview
The Competitive Rowing Program is open to all experienced rowers. The program involves serious practice (5-6 days per week) and training both on and off the water for rowers who want to compete in regattas during the rowing season.
Practices and races Coaches or members organize boats. Practice schedules, equipment use and regatta entries are coordinated through the Club Captain and the Program Coaches.
Senior Competitive Program
The “Comp” program exists for all men and women who wish to train at a high performance level. The Competitive squad consists of lightweight, heavyweight, senior and Under 23 categories.
The mens and womens comp squad trains Monday-Friday at 5 a.m.-7 a.m. and Saturday Mornings at 6:30 a.m. in all boats.
Crews will be selected by program coaches, based on erg scores and boat moving ability. The Comp squad will represent the ARC at most CORA regattas throughout the season, culminating in participation at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Final selection for Henley will be determined no later than July 22 by program coaches. After Henley, ARC continues to field strong Comp crews at moat regattas during the fall, including Head of the Trent, Welland and Charles.
