The Argonaut Rowing Club has an active Masters program for men and women. The program is designed for rowers over 27 years of age, who would like to continue to row at a competitive level, while trying to combine it with their other commitments.

Crews
Typically crews get set early in the season. For those who do not have a crew, please contact us and we will try to get you involved in a crew or create a new crew. The objective is to get compatible crews in terms of technical competency, physical ability and age.
Sweeping/Sculling
Sweep rowing: Master rowers can row in 8’s and 4’s with coxswains
Sculling: Master rowers can row in quads, doubles and singles.
There are a limited number of rowing shells available.
Seasons
Winter:
During the winter masters continue to work on their physical fitness and strength in the weight room at the Argonaut Rowing Club or at other sports’ facilities. Progress of the winter training is measured at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships and the Ontario Ergometer Championships. The Argonaut Rowing Club organizes the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships.
Summer:
The docks go down at the beginning of April each year. The fours and eights can start their water training effective March 25th. Between April and May 1st, small boats are only allowed after 7 am and should be accompanied by a coach boat. After May 1st, rowing in small and large boats will begin at 5.45 am. The rowing schedule allows for morning and/or evening rowing.
Regattas
Masters will have the opportunity to participate at several regattas. Most of the regattas take place in July and August, whereas Headraces are during September and October. You will see Argonaut Masters in action during the CORA regattas at London, St.Catharines and Welland, as well as the Regatta of the Americas, Royal Canadian Henley and several Head races (Peterborough, London).Additional fees will be charged for the Head races at Saratoga Springs NY and Buffalo NY. Some of our members participate at the FISA World Rowing Masters Regatta.
