Learn to Scull

Group Lessons for ARC members

We will be scheduling learn-to-scull clinics occasionally over the rowing season, per popular demand. Clinics will be taught by one or more accomplished sculler(s). Novice clinics will introduce the basics to the novice sculler or recent LTR grad, using doubles, quads or training singles. Advanced sessions will provide tune-up and feedback to the experienced sculler in either their own single, or one of the club boats. Watch the noticeboards and newsletter for announcements. Cost will be $40/person for a 4-hour class.

Private one-on-one classes with a coach

We generally recommend learning the basics of rowing in a larger stable crew boat, in a group session (see Learn to Row). However, we do offer one-on-one private lessons to non-members, per request, to those who wish to learn rowing in a single (2 oars/person) rather than a large sweep (1 oar/person) crew boat. There will be an experienced coach guiding you at all times during your 90-minute class. This is a very intensive way to learn the sport of single sculling, but suits those who are perhaps thinking about purchasing their own boat, or who are seeking a more balanced form of exercise for the body ("balanced" due to using both arms and even pressure through the back).

Single Sculling lesson package for non-members:

4 classes / $300 (additional classes may be purchased separately)
