A PROUD HISTORY, A BRIGHT FUTURE
The Board of Directors
A.R.C. is led by a board of directors and supported by various committees. The corporation’s by-laws set out the rules for operation. We are very fortunate to have members that are generous with their time and resources.
Please respect that generosity when you are looking for assistance and/or guidance, and recognize that their time volunteering does take away from their time rowing.
Board meetings
The Board meets on the fourth Monday of every month and its activities are guided by the Club Policies, By-laws and Strategic Plan.
Annual General Meetings (AGM)
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held annually to update the members on the status of the club. The 2009 AGM was held on November 8th, 2009. This meeting consisted of a financial reporting and a vote for the three board member seats that come available each year. Each year three elected member’s terms (out of nine) come up for renewal at the Annual General Meeting. Reports are tabled by the Rowing Committee Co-chairs and the directors responsible for various portfolios outline the activities for the past year and ongoing plans. Other issues may be added to the agenda as required. The next AGM will be in November, 2010.
Special General Meetings (SGM)
The club typically hosts a Special General Meeting (SGM) in May or early June each year, generally 6 months from when the AGM is held. This meeting does not usually include any voting issues and acts as an informational meeting to address any members’ questions or concerns. Other SGMs may be scheduled as required, notification will be provided to members.
Board Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at the club and members are welcome to attend as observers. Any questions or concerns that you may have should be taken to the appropriate sub-Committee to be resolved or brought forward by the portfolio director at the next board meeting.
